Why Cartelago Uses USPCC for Its Playing Cards

Playing-card design does not stop when the artwork is finished. The stock, finish, cut, print consistency, and way a deck changes through use all become part of the final object.
That is why Cartelago chooses the United States Playing Card Company for its physical decks.
The card itself is not the place to compromise
There are less expensive ways to manufacture a deck. For Cartelago, lower cost is not enough reason to compromise the part people actually touch.
Our decks are made for movement: shuffles, spreads, fans, table work, games, rehearsal, and performance. They have to work for someone opening a fresh tuck and for someone reaching for the same softened deck months later.
Using USPCC gives Cartelago the production foundation it wants before the first line of artwork is considered complete.
Production is part of design
A playing card is both an image and a tool. A beautiful back design cannot rescue a deck that nobody wants to handle. Likewise, a technically useful deck should still feel like something worth choosing and carrying.
Cartelago develops both sides together. Standards used crushed Bicycle stock. Mirinos and Mirinos BLACKOUT continued the focus on practical USPCC production. Players uses Bee stock for a different feel while staying inside the same philosophy: make the deck good enough to work and specific enough to become yours.
Limited does not mean shelf-only
Cartelago editions are intentionally finite. A limited run gives a deck a moment and an identity; it does not mean the deck should remain sealed forever.
We want the cards to be collected, but we also want them to acquire evidence of use. A worn tuck can be a record of practice. Soft edges can mean the deck has traveled. The object becomes more personal as the owner spends time with it.
That is the standard behind every Cartelago deck: premium production, a fixed visual point of view, and a reason to keep it close.
